Good news for Kentucky employers. On October 4, 2021, The Kentucky Office of Unemployment Insurance extended unemployment tax relief for 2021. Unemployment benefits paid in the third quarter of 2021 are not chargeable to employers, per their website.

This continues the relief that was provided to Kentucky employers in the first and second quarters of 2021. For this period employers were also not charged for benefits paid to claimants. By reducing the amount of benefits charged to employers,  the state unemployment agency effectively prevents pandemic-related unemployment claims from negatively impacting unemployment tax rates.
