In mid-January, Missouri (MO) legislators introduced HB 833. The bill would make three major changes to unemployment, but the highlight is that as of 8/28/2021, MO would extend its unemployment benefit duration from 20 to 26 weeks. The bill would also eliminate the UI week scale which used the state unemployment rate to lessen weeks as the rate rose. But lastly, the bill would implement changes that are required of states according to the Continued CARES Act signed on December 27th. At this point, the bill has been read twice but has not yet been enacted. Check back with CCC News for more continuing details.
