The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) recently announced in a press release it will not mail its annual Tax Rate Notice (form C22U95) to employers in December as it has done in the past.  Instead, the 2021 Tax Rate Notice will be mailed to employers in February 2021.

The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting unemployment claims spike has created higher than usual benefit charges to employers.  Since benefit charges have a direct impact on the Tax Rate Notice calculation, higher numbers could mean a much higher Tax Rate for 2021.  TWC is awaiting answers from Congress based on discussions it is having regarding potential relief from charges legislation so this is delaying the mailing of the 2021 Tax Rate Notice.

Corporate Cost Control will stay in contact with TWC and advise its clients of any changes to this as we are made aware.  If you have questions regarding your Texas 2021 Tax Rate Notice or for any state’s tax rate notice, please contact your CCC Tax Analyst or Wayne Rottger, Vice President, Tax at wrottger@corporatecostcontrol.com.
