The Missouri Department of Employment Security announced the following:

“On August 3, 2020, the President signed the Protecting Non-profits Act into law to provide relief for state and local governmental entities, certain nonprofit organizations, and Federally-recognized Indian Tribes. Prior guidance required qualifying employers to pay 100% of charges for weeks of unemployment beginning on or after March 13th to qualify for a 50% reimbursement.

The Protecting Non-profits Act permits the Missouri of Division of Employment Security (DES) to accept 50% payment as satisfaction of 100% of qualifying charges*. If you have not yet paid your 2nd Quarter 2020 reimbursable billing, or have not paid it in full, you may elect to postpone your payment until such time as the new guidance is implemented and a new billing is generated. DES is working as quickly as possible to implement the new guidance.

*Qualifying Charges – All benefits charged to a reimbursable employer for weeks of unemployment ending March 21, 2020, through December 26, 2020.”
