On August 21, FEMA approved Texas to provide $300 in additional weekly unemployment benefit payments. The Texas Workforce Commission said that money would start showing up this week. While states have the option to contribute an additional $100, the TWC indicated they will not be doing so.

61,416 Texans applied for unemployment relief in the week ending August 15, 2020. In total, more than 3.2 million Texans have applied for unemployment since the coronavirus pandemic began.

CCC will continue to report as additional states begin implementation of the President’s recent Executive Order.
