Not all states are created equal when it comes to mailing unemployment claims. What is true for each and every state unemployment agency, is the requirement that an Unemployment Power of Attorney (POA) be filed for each entity/company name that exists for that employer in the state.  These POAs allow Corporate Cost Control to be Address of Record (AOR) and receive your unemployment documents directly.

Each state unemployment agency requires this to be done in slightly different ways. While some states want the employer to grant Corporate Cost Control (CCC) access through an online process, other states require a paper POA to be filled out and some states require both!

The online states have our addresses pre-loaded into their system so when the client assigns CCC as their Third party-agent (TPA), the assignment establishes that the claims will be sent to one of our mail processing locations. If the state requires the POA to be filed by paper, we have already inserted our mailing address and any other pertinent information onto the POA.

However, the responsibility does not only fall with the employer and the third-party agent. If the claimant is not aware Corporate Cost Control is the TPA, they will more than likely put their employer as the address of record. If the employer notifies their employees that we are processing their unemployment claims, mail will reach us much more quickly and their claim will be processed quicker too!

Having a great relationship with our state agency contacts can be an effective tool in keeping our mailing addresses correct. The states know CCC well and they know that we want to do the best job we can for our clients. Often this relationship will get our contacts to process our requests more quickly than our competitors who don’t take time to foster these critical relationships.

By making sure that we properly file all POA requests, developing relationships with the state unemployment agencies and consistently auditing addresses with the states, CCC is giving our clients the best possible start to ensuring that unemployment-related documents are received at the proper address and able to be handled timely.
