Arizona: Arizona’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.6% in December, down from 4.7% in November.

Colorado: Colorado’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dipped to 2.5% in December, the lowest level in at least 44 years.

Florida: According to a news release from Governor Ron DeSantis Florida’s unemployment rate dropped to a record low of 3.0% in December.

Georgia: Georgia ended 2019 with an unemployment rate of 3.2%, according to the Georgia Department of Labor. This is the state’s lowest unemployment rate on record.

Iowa: Iowa’s unemployment rate increased slightly to 2.7% in December.

Kentucky: Kentucky’s December 2019 unemployment rate  decreased to 4.3%, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics (KYSTATS), an agency within the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet (EWDC). This is s down 0.1% from the 4.4% recorded for the state in November 2019.

Maryland: Maryland’s unemployment rate has decreased to 3.5% in December which is a new record low for unemployment in the past decade.

Massachusetts: The Massachusetts unemployment rate decreased by .1% to 2.8 percent, according to the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

Michigan: Michigan’s unemployment rate crept down .1% to 3.9% in December.

Missouri: Missourians who received unemployment benefits in 2019 can now view and download their 1099-G tax form online at uinteract.labor.mo.gov. Form 1099-G details how much unemployment benefits a claimant received during the calendar year as well as information about taxes withheld from their benefits. This information must be reported each year for tax purposes.

Nevada: Nevada’s unemployment rate has decreased to 3.8% in December, down 0.2 percentage points from November according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

North Carolina: The North Carolina Department of Commerce announced that more North Carolina employers were awarded federal Work Opportunity Tax Credit certifications in 2019 than 2018, and the agency also doubled its Federal Bonding program. The agency helped more than 80,000 residents with barriers to employment join the workforce, department officials said Monday.

The agency issued more than $200 million in incentives in 2019 for employers who chose to hire veterans, residents who receive government assistance, have a criminal record or a history of substance abuse, among other obstacles. Both programs reward and accommodate employers who extend hiring opportunities to a nontraditional base. Employers can earn the Work Opportunity Tax Credit of $1,200 to $9,600 for each eligible employee they hire.

Oregon: Oregon’s unemployment rate dropped to 3.7% in December, the lowest on record dating back to 1976, according to the Oregon Employment Department.

Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania has paid off $2.8 billion in bonds it issued in 2012 to pay off a post-recession debt owed to the federal government. This debt was a result of the huge amount of unemployment collected during the great recession. The final installment was paid on January 1, 2020.

Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate was up .2% over the month to 4.5% in December.

Tennessee: Tennessee’s unemployment tax rates for experienced employers are unchanged for the first half of 2020, the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development said Jan. 22 on its website.

Texas: Texas’ unemployment rate increased slightly to  3.5%  in December from November’s 3.4%.

Utah: Utah’s unemployment rate dropped to the lowest ever recorded in the state for December to 2.3%.

Washington: Washington state’s December unemployment rate decreased to 4.3 % according to the Employment Security Department. December’s rate was down from November’s rate of 4.4 %.
