Alabama: Alabama’s jobless rate has dipped to a record-low 3.7%, a record low.

Idaho: The state’s unemployment rate increased slightly to 2.9% for February 2019.

Kentucky: Kentucky’s February 2019 unemployment rate was 4.1%, down from 4.2% the previous month.

Maine: The Maine February unemployment rate was 3.4% for the month. That was just below the 3.5% in each of the previous six months.

Massachusetts: Massachusetts has reduced the maximum duration for collection of unemployment benefits from 30 to 26 weeks. Massachusetts gained unemployment rate fell 1/10 of a percentage point to 3%, lower than the national average of 3.8%. This is the lowest unemployment rate in Massachusetts in 15 years. It’s also the 34th consecutive month where Massachusetts has had an unemployment rate of 4% or lower.

Michigan: Michigan has not repaid approximately 500 people who were wrongfully flagged as having committed unemployment insurance fraud between 2013 and 2015. The latest disclosure comes after Michigan refunded $21 million over 48,000 false fraud accusations the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) made against people who had filed for or were receiving jobless benefits from the state. Michigan agreed to repay money that was wrongfully seized during this period, unfortunately approximately 500 people have still not been refunded. The Michigan Unemployment Agency has been unable to track them down despite repeated attempts, owing them a collective $400,000.

Minnesota: Minnesota’s unemployment rate increased slightly in February for the 2nd consecutive month of 3.1%t, inching up from 3% in January.

North Carolina: North Carolina’s unemployment rate rose by .1% in February to 3.9%. The 2nd rise is as many months.

Oklahoma: Oklahoma’s unemployment rate worsened in February for the 2nd consecutive month. The state’s unemployment rate rose to  3.3%.

Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate report for February reveals matching its lowest rate on record.  The PA Department of Labor and Industry says the rate decreased to 4% last month, dropping down 1/10 of a percentage from January.

Puerto Rico: The Puerto Rico Department of Labor and Human Resources (PR DOL) announced that in an effort to improve services and reduce public expenses, all employers will be required to submit their unemployment tax returns electronically starting April 1, 2019. Pursuant to the new Regulation Regarding the Administration of the Puerto Rico Unemployment Insurance Program (the “New Regulation”), the requirement to submit the returns electronically will apply to returns covering the first quarter of the tax year 2019. As a result of this new requirement, the PR DOL will not accept or consider any returns in paper, and all employers must use only the DOL webpage to submit their returns. Employers will have until April 30, 2019 to file and make the payment corresponding to the first quarter of 2019. To file the returns, employers must access the PR DOL wage page: https://patronos.trabajo.pr.gov/patronos. The PR DOL has established an area in all of its regional offices to assist employers that have no internet access in order to comply with the New Regulation.

Wisconsin: After five months at 3 percent, the Wisconsin unemployment rate fell to 2.9 percent in February 2019.
