We’ve all seen a fake website or a scam on the Internet. While many are easy to spot, some can actually pass as the real thing.

This is the case in Texas, where a number of false unemployment benefits websites have popped up, according to the Texas Workforce Commission. Many workers are using these third-parties to file claims, handing over valuable personal information, and cash, in the process.

The TWC has warned employees of the scams, and you should too. Let your workers know that filing a claim is always free, and the only place to do so is a state agency or the TWC itself.

Be wary of unemployment insurance scams in your area. We’ll see you next month.
