At the end of March, New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan announced a round of job training grants for several of the state’s employers. These funds are intended to be used for hundreds of local workers, offering the needed finances to provide them new skills.

“New Hampshire’s Job Training Fund is a valuable resource that has helped provide essential skills to thousands of workers,” Gov. Hassan said in a statement. “We must maintain our commitment to higher education and job training in order to attract innovative businesses, help existing companies grow, and support the creation of good jobs for New Hampshire’s middle class families.”

In total, six grants were awarded to the total of $114,978.25. The companies involved then matched those amounts, doubling the final number.

As a result, employers received the money they needed to train workers. Mark Eaton, general manager of one of those companies – CHI Engineering Services – told Seacoastonline.com that the training helped keep his employees competitive. As an added bonus, it allowed the company to retain top-level staff members.

Eaton explained to the news source that CHI Engineering Services has grown in size during the past several years, thanks in part to the job training grants provided by the state.
